Run, Cheer, Volunteer: Covering All Aspects of the Houston Marathon

My Role: Producer, Drone Team Spotter/Driver
Backstory: I have worked behind the scenes on the Chevron Houston Marathon's media team since 2022. My primary role as producer involved lots of planning and coordination with camera crew, motorcycle drivers, Marathon staff and drone camera operators.
Challenges: Plotting drone filming locations for the Marathon is a fun challenge each year - mostly due to the fact that so many roads are blocked during the marathon. It takes a lot of time in Google maps, race maps, and location knowledge to plot out the plan for the time-restricted plan. You also have to be aware and on top of security concerns, such as run-ins with the news chopper and keeping the local police informed of your activities.
Successes: The Marathon team continues to return to our crew each year for the consistent, quality coverage we provide. They also engage with us when they are seeking funding for their foundation as well. Here is a quick example of this lower budget but fun type of project.
